Services

We offer a wide range of services, therapies and consultations:

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a treatment method that involves the insertion of thin, sterilized needles into specific parts of the body to resolve illness, alleviate pain and promote wellbeing. Acupuncture needles are sterile and are only used once. The benefits of acupuncture are often felt immediately. Weekly treatment is most common, although sometimes more frequent visits are necessary. A growing number of patients in the United States visit acupuncture clinics every year. It is being integrated into doctor’s offices and hospitals throughout the world.

Asian Bodywork (TuiNa)

Asian Bodywork, or TuiNa, is one of the techniques of Chinese medicine. It is designed to re-align the structures of the body and restore proper flow. It is a therapeutic massage which treats both internal and musculo-skeletal disorders, including common problems such as neck strain and back pain as well as medical conditions and sports injuries.

Chinese Herbal Medicinals/Formulas

Chinese Medicinals/Formulas are a complex and powerful aspect of Chinese medicine. Chinese prescriptions are prepared after a careful diagnosis of each individual, and in accordance with the specific nature of the disorder. The formulas are created by combining individual medicinal herbs; and the selection, dosage and combinations are based on centuries of empirical research. Chinese formulas are effective for both acute and chronic conditions, and can be very successful in treating digestive problems, lung disorders, anxiety/depression, sleep disorders, menstrual irregularities, peri-menopausal symptoms and other internal disorders, as well as skin conditions and even the common cold. Compared with Western pharmaceuticals, Chinese formulas are sometimes slower acting. This is because they work to balance the body’s own healing abilities, not simply to diminish symptoms. When properly administered, Chinese formula treatment, which last anywhere from a week to several months, can resolve problems that may have been present for years.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Certified in the Mei Zen face, neck, abdominal, fertility and weight loss protocols 6/2014. Mei Zen has been featured in Oprah Magazine and New York Times. The technique has bee proven to:

• Reduce wrinkles

• Erase of fine lines and reduction of deeper lines

• Reduce sagginess

• Lift droopy eyelids

• Clear or reduce age spots

• An overall rejuvenation that is not confined to your face…

…That means you'll feel better all over - or that your health has actually improved! A study in The Journal of Clinical Acupuncture shares that, with cosmetic acupuncture, 90% of clients have marked improvement in their faces and experience an overall rejuvenation that is not confined to the face. This is a good reason to call Cosmetic Acupuncture procedures "Anti-Aging Treatments" because they affect overall health in a positive way. Clients will look and feel younger. Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments promote the circulation of Qi and Blood in the face. Increased blood circulation to the face moistens the skin and promotes collagen production for increased muscle tone and elasticity. From a Western medicine perspective, it is thought that the needling creates production of more collagen and elastin in the face. Anti-aging Cosmetic Acupuncture is less expensive, healthier, and safer than the modern treatments. It's virtually risk free and there are none of the side effects of face lift surgery, lasers, and injections like numbness, scarring, possible atrophy, and lengthy recovery time. Clients' faces will never look stretched, burned, puffy, or "banded."

Craniosacral Therapy

Magnus Wellness approaches craniosacral therapy from studies of internal martial arts and the teachings of Dr. William Sutherland. We focus on structural elements and the fluid dynamics of the craniosacral system: the bones, central nervous system, membranes, cerebral spinal fluid, and the motion and stillness as expressed by the ‘Breath of Life’ within the body. It is integral part of the Asian Bodywork (TuiNa) sessions and aspects of each treatment.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy has been used for thousands of years by many cultures to help rid the body of disease and improve the physical structure. Traditional Chinese Medicine uses cupping extensively to resolve stagnation of energy (Qi) and blood due to any number of causes, including physical injury and various ailments. This type of therapy can also be used to clear heat from the body, eliminate toxins, treat respiratory ailments such as asthma and bronchitis, alleviate arthritic symptoms, ease lower back pain, resolve depression and lessen gastrointestinal problems. Cupping can have amazing results when used alone or in conjunction with other alternative treatments. This particular therapy has the potential to effect great change in a very short amount of time as it can work on the deeper levels of the body. It also has a profound effect on the speed and degree of lasting healing for many conditions.

Electro-Acupuncture

Electro-acupuncture uses a gentle electrical current to stimulate the acupuncture needles, and is highly effective in reducing pain and inflammation.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is performed by rubbing the skin with a smooth ceramic spoon to relieve areas of stagnation. The skin looks red or purple after treatment and return to normal coloration in 3-5 days. The result is healthy circulation of blood and a reduction of symptoms that is usually felt immediately.

Moxibustion and Heat Therapy

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy using moxa made from dried mugwort (Artemisia argyi). Moxa is used to warm regions and acupuncture points with the intention of stimulating circulation through the points and inducing a smoother blood flow. Heat Therapy uses a TDP mineral lamp. The lamp uses infrared (below visible light) emissions increases circulation and loosens fascia to accelerate the natural healing processes of the body. The TDP lamp is a therapeutic substitute for moxibustion (moxa), a traditional Chinese therapy, and is used by acupuncturists and Asian bodywork therapists.

Nutritional Guidance

Magnus Wellness has nutritional training from several methods. One of the things we most like about Chinese Nutritional Therapy is the recognition of individuality. This also extends to food considerations. There are no "one size fits all" herbal regiments or food choices in Chinese Medicine. Other considerations need to be addressed like: gender, body image, culture, occupation, etc. Everything is tailored to the individual's needs, and it's recognized that individual needs can differ widely. The most important aspect of nutrition is balance. Balanced nutrition is undeniably linked to good health. At Magnus Wellness, we approach nutrition and health in a caring way. We do not judge. We intend to assist in answering questions and help each individual with the process of finding what foods fit best into daily activities.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture has had amazing results on my skin.

My results have been quick and dramatic. The reason the results are immediate is when you do the face and neck the Qi stimulates circulation the blood flow stimulates the muscles to strengthen and brings out the vibrancy in the face and neck. It has smoothed out deep wrinkles and fine lines, wrinkles, sagging and puffiness in both the face and neck. It is definitely a much tighter feel and lifting. My cheeks have had more definition as well as around my eyes it has added volume where under my eye I was getting a sunk-in look. My forehead has shown lifting and tightening. It also has lifted around the ears where extra skin was "buckling". The plumping of the skin is the direct result you are looking for.

My face has a natural glow. Many friends have noticed and have been complimentary about the how I look a lot more youthful. Huge benefit to have the sinuses opened up. We all know the benefits for having open sinuses in Tucson. All natural: no side effects, no down time, minimal redness but goes away quickly. No fillers and no plastic surgery. I recommend doing both the face and neck. Most women forget about the neck area, which is why you see women with a tight face and a loose neck...not attractive. -L.B.
